What is bearing chamfer?

Chamfering is a term in mechanical engineering. In order to remove burrs caused by machining on parts and to facilitate part assembly, chamfering 

is generally made at the end of parts. Chamfering can be seen everywhere in our lives, on the mobile phone frame, on the tempered door, on the 

vase and so on.


The role of the general chamfer is to remove burrs and make it beautiful. However, for the chamfer specifically pointed out in the drawings, it is generally the requirements of the installation process, such as the installation guide of the bearing, and some arc chamfers (or arc transition) can 

also play a role in reducing stress concentration and strengthening the strength of shaft parts. In addition, assembly can also be made easy, 

generally before the end of the processing.


On agricultural machinery parts, especially round accessories and round holes, the end face is often processed into a chamfer of about 45°. These

Usually, the outer chamfer of the bearing ring and the inner chamfer of the inner ring are rounded, and the most important thing is to facilitate 

installation in addition to effectively avoiding contact stress. Rounded corners ensure good transitional loading.


Especially in the bearing process, the positioning surface of the matching shaft and shaft hole, that is, the shaft shoulder and the bearing block 

shoulder part, the chamfer size of this part directly affects whether the bearing can be correctly installed in place.
